Madhya Pradesh: Schools across the state will come alive again starting June 16 following the summer break. Students will reunite with friends and teachers and participate in academic activities with renewed enthusiasm. To mark this occasion, a ‘School Reopening Festival’ (Shala Prarambh Utsav) will be organized in all government and Sandipani schools from June 16 to June 30, 2026, as part of the second phase of the ‘School Chalein Hum’ (Let’s Go to School) campaign.
This will include organizing ‘Bal Sabhas‘ (children’s assemblies) and a special meal on the first day in all schools catering to pre-primary through Class 8. Additionally, special focus will be placed on achieving 100% enrollment, distributing textbooks, improving academic quality, ensuring functional toilets for girls and the availability of drinking water, and fostering parental engagement with the school.
The School Education Department has completed preparations for the new academic session commencing on June 16.
Goal: Sending Every Child to School
Regarding 100% school enrollment, the objective for the 2026-27 academic session—in accordance with State Education Centre directives—is to ensure full enrollment and connect every eligible child to a school. To achieve this, lists of dropout students have been prepared and provided to field-level officials and teachers.
The department has issued instructions to field officials regarding the distribution of free textbooks. To improve learning outcomes at the primary level, a special action plan under ‘Mission Ankur‘ will be implemented at the field level; this involves identifying children’s weak areas based on the FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy) Survey 2025 and effectively executing various educational activities.
Prioritizing student convenience and health, the State Education Centre has directed field officials to ensure—upon the reopening of schools—the availability of clean drinking water, functional toilets for girls, running water, clean water tanks, necessary repairs, and general amenities.
Parents to be Welcomed in Schools
Under the second phase of the “School Chalein Hum” (Let’s Go to School) campaign, identified children will be enrolled in all government schools, and their parents will be welcomed at the school level. Students will be informed about the facilities provided by the school and relevant government schemes. During this period, discussions will be held with School Management Committee members to ensure the regular attendance of children enrolled for the new academic session.
The District Collector will assign specific schools to Class I and Class II officers from various district departments; these officers will interact with the students and inspire them by sharing their own experiences.
