President Droupadi Murmu said that educational institutions are not merely centres for awarding degrees, but are key hubs for fostering innovation, research, scientific temper and creative thinking. Universities also have an important responsibility to instil respect for Indian culture, traditions and languages among students. She emphasised that balanced progress rooted in both modernity and tradition is essential for the holistic development of the nation. The President was addressing the 36th Convocation Ceremony of Rani Durgavati University in Jabalpur on Sunday.
President Smt.Murmu presented gold medals to 20 students who secured multiple gold medals across various faculties and conferred degrees upon graduating students. A total of 240 gold medals were awarded to 141 students of the University, while 182 research scholars received PhD and other academic degrees. The President paid floral tributes to the statue of the valiant queen Rani Durgavati located on the university campus.
Murmu said that it is a matter of pride that the university is named after the great warrior queen Rani Durgavati. She described Rani Durgavati as the embodiment of courage, bravery, valour and heroism, and an enduring source of inspiration for women’s empowerment. The President, paying tribute to the legendary queen, said that students and alumni associated with the University should actively contribute towards the empowerment of tribal communities, underprivileged sections of society and especially girls.
Murmu noted that the University is located in a region rich in tribal and forest-dwelling cultural heritage. Therefore, the responsibility of educated youth should extend beyond personal career advancement to guiding and supporting people in their villages and communities.

Governor and Chancellor Mangubhai Patel said that the 36th Convocation Ceremony being held in the gracious presence of President Droupadi Murmu is a matter of immense pride for all. He, paying tribute to Maharani Rani Durgavati, said that her life represents the timeless values of tribal identity, public welfare, women’s empowerment, sacrifice, valour, leadership and self-respect. He said that Rani Durgavati continues to inspire tribal communities, every daughter and the younger generation across the country.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that the gracious presence of President Droupadi Murmu, who occupies the highest constitutional office in the country, added further prestige and grandeur to the 36th Convocation Ceremony of Rani Durgavati University. He said that the occasion was a matter of pride and honour not only for the University but for the entire State of Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Rani Durgavati University is not merely an institution of higher education; it symbolises the glorious legacy of courage, self-respect and sacrifice established by the immortal warrior queen, Rani Durgavati, through her bravery and indomitable valour.
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed confidence that Rani Durgavati University would achieve new milestones in the fields of education, research and innovation. He said that the talented students graduating from the University would make significant contributions to the development of the nation and society. CM stated that the University’s students are bringing laurels to Madhya Pradesh at the national level through their talent and outstanding achievements.
