\A bird watching camp was organized for everyone at Van Vihar National Park on Monday, the sixth day of the state-level Wildlife Week-2025 starting at 6 a.m. 121 bird lovers from International Public High School, Chuna Bhatti, Bhopal, participated in the camp. Participants were enthralled by the sightings of various bird species, including the Magpie Robin, Indian Robin, Greater Coucal, Grey Heron, Common Kingfisher, White-breasted Kingfisher, and others.
Children participating in the bird watching camp were shown models of wildlife and provided information about them by subject experts.
Director of Van Vihar National Park, Mr. Vijay Kumar, resource person, Mr. AK Khare, retired Deputy Conservator of Forests, Dr. Sudesh Waghmare, retired Deputy Conservator of Forests, Dr. Sangeeta Rajgir and Mohammad Khaliq, and other officials and staff were present. The program was conducted by Dr. Ruhi Haq, Assistant Director, Van Vihar.
A workshop on “Equipment used in rescue and wildlife conservation and monitoring” was held for college students from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. 155 students participated.
Another competition, a Wildlife and Nature Expo for school students, began at 10 a.m., where 16 students in seven groups created models related to forests, wildlife, and nature to provide information to tourists.
A campaign called “Panni se Pakshi” (bird from polythene) was organized under the leadership of Dr. Rohan Shringarpure, in collaboration with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), in which participants provided information to tourists through seven models. Prizes were awarded to the winners.
A debate competition was held for school students from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the topic “Development is possible with wildlife conservation.” 21 participants participated and expressed their views on the pros and cons.
A “walk-through quiz-cum-exhibition” for tourists on topics related to human-wildlife coexistence, Mission Life, and Say No to Plastic” was held in the Vihar Gallery, Snake Park, and Tiger Enclosure at Van Vihar, attracting 200 visitors. Prizes were also distributed to the tourists in the competition. The program was conducted by Dr. Samson of the Bombay Natural History Society and Mr. Sankalp Kisanani served as the resource person.
October 7th Program
During Wildlife Week, a “wildlife” themed toddler walk will be organized for children in nursery through first grade on October 7th from 8:30 to 10:00 am. Additionally, a “wildlife” themed face painting competition will be held for school and college students from 8:30 to 10:00 am.
