To mark International Tiger Day, Van Vihar National Park organized an ‘Open Quiz’ and a ‘Rescue Workshop’ on Thursday as part of ‘Tiger Week,’ aiming to raise awareness about tiger conservation and wildlife among students. Various events centered on the theme ‘Tigers in Madhya Pradesh’ are being conducted from July 22 to July 28 to educate students from schools and colleges across Bhopal.
During the open quiz competition held at Naveen High School (25th Battalion), wildlife experts familiarized students with key facts regarding the lives, behavior, and conservation of tigers. Students participated enthusiastically in the quiz, which was based on the theme ‘Tigers in Madhya Pradesh.’ Winners were honored with caps, button badges, and mugs. Officials and staff from Van Vihar also encouraged the students during the event.
Additionally, a rescue workshop was organized within the Van Vihar premises, attended by 56 students from Vidyapeeth Institute of Pharmacy (Bhopal) and Government Motilal Vigyan Mahavidyalaya (MVM). Wildlife expert Dr. Hamza Farooqui and his associate, Dilip Batham, provided practical information on modern equipment, techniques, and safety measures used during wildlife rescue operations.
Van Vihar Assistant Director Dr. Haq, along with other officials and staff, were present. The event aimed to connect young people with the importance of tiger conservation and introduce them to modern techniques used in wildlife management and rescue operations.
Special Events Scheduled for July 25
As part of Tiger Week, an interactive session titled “General Introduction: Tigers and Their Existence” will be held for college students on July 25 from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Participants will also be taken on an educational tour of Van Vihar, allowing them to gain firsthand insight into wildlife conservation activities within a natural habitat.
