Wildlife Week-2025: A bird watching camp for Divyang children was organized at Van Vihar National Park on Saturday, October 4, the fourth day of the State Wildlife Week 2025, starting at 6 am. Fifty-seven students from Aayam Inclusion School, Bhopal, observed various bird species.
The children were enthralled by the sightings of the Magpie Robin, Indian Robin, Green Bee-eater, Grey Francolin, Common Kingfisher, and White-breasted Kingfisher. The children participating in the bird watching camp were shown models of wildlife and provided information about them by subject experts, which thrilled them.
A photography competition on the theme of “Van Vihar” was organized for college students starting at 6:30 am. Forty children participated, photographing the wildlife of Van Vihar, and submitted three photographs each in soft copies to the office. A Rangoli competition was held for classes 5th to 8th on the topic of forests and wildlife. A competition on “Wildlife in Mythology” was held for Class 9th from 9:00 a.m. 126 participants participated and created beautiful rangolis depicting various types of wildlife.
The “Youth Parliament” competition for school and college students began at 11:00 a.m. Fifty-three participants, divided into four groups, expressed their views for and against wildlife conservation. Resource persons included Dr. Sudesh Waghmare, Dr. Sangeeta Rajgir, and Mohammad Khaliq, along with other officials and employees.
Director of Van Vihar National Park, Vijay Kumar, was also present. The program was moderated by Assistant Director of Van Vihar, Dr. Ruhi Haq. During the bird watching camp, approximately 300 students from various schools who visited Van Vihar also gained knowledge and information about birds and wildlife.
October 5th Program
During Wildlife Week, a “Run for Wildlife” race for wildlife conservation will be held on October 5th, starting at 7:00 am. Reporting time will be 6:00 am. The race will begin at Van Vihar Gate No. 2, pass through Depot Square, Polytechnic Square, Shyamla Hills, and towards the Boat Club, ending at Van Vihar Gate No. 1. A teacher debate competition will also be held at 10:30 am on the topic, “Forest Tourism Helps in Wildlife Conservation.”
