The National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Bhopal, and Cotton University, Guwahati, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration in the field of semiconductor skilling and research. The MoU was formally signed by Prof. C. C. Tripathi, Director of NITTTR Bhopal, and Prof. Ramesh Chandra Deka, Vice-Chancellor of Cotton University.
This partnership will specifically focus on developing specialized courses in semiconductor technologies, including VLSI design, semiconductor manufacturing, packaging, testing, and related fields, which are of paramount importance to India’s North-Eastern region. These courses aim to provide industry-relevant skills training to prepare students and professionals for careers in the semiconductor industry.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Tripathi, Director of NITTTR Bhopal, said, “The semiconductor industry has gained immense importance globally, and we are committed to promoting research and skill development in this sector. Especially in North-East India, where there is immense potential for education and technical skills, this partnership will provide an opportunity to train local youth in the semiconductor industry.”
Prof. Tripathi said further, “The semiconductor industry and its associated research and development opportunities in North-East India can open a new avenue for employment and skill development for the youth of the region. The semiconductor industry is expected to create millions of skilled and semi-skilled jobs in India over the next decade, making this sector a major source of employment.”
Prof. Sanjay Agarwal, Prof. Ashish Deshpande, Prof. P.K. Purohit, Prof. A.S. Walke, Prof. Seema Verma, and Major Nishant Ojha from NITTTR Bhopal, along with Dr. Rahul Mahanta and Dr. Jitumani Kalita from Cotton University were also present on the occasion.
