The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Bhopal Branch Office, inaugurated a BIS Corner at the Central Library of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal today. This event was organized under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between BIS and MANIT Bhopal.
The BIS Corner was inaugurated by Prof. Karunesh Kumar Shukla, Director, MANIT Bhopal. Also present on the occasion were Mohammad Rizwan, Director and Head, BIS Bhopal Branch Office, Rahul Kumar, Scientist ‘D’/Joint Director, BIS Bhopal Branch Office, and the faculty mentors of the BIS Student Chapter, Dr. Lalita Gupta, Dr. Manish Vishwakarma, and Dr. Neeraj Tiwari. Other faculty members and staff of the institute, including Dr. Venkat Rao Pokuri, Librarian, MANIT, also attended the program.
The objective of establishing the BIS Corner is to provide students and researchers with easy access to Indian Standards, BIS publications, and information related to standardization and conformity assessment, thereby promoting awareness of quality and standards in academic institutions.
Rahul Kumar, Scientist ‘D’/Joint Director, BIS Bhopal Branch Office, gave a detailed presentation on the guidelines and functioning of the BIS Student Chapter. He encouraged students to undertake case studies and pre-standardization studies and emphasized the active role students can play in the development of Indian Standards. A fruitful interaction took place with the students and faculty members during the program.
