MP Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav extended his best wishes to Padma Shri awardee, Vikram Award winner, and international para-swimmer Satyendra Singh Lohiya and his team at his residence in Delhi for their upcoming international open water swimming challenge. He expressed confidence that the team would once again set a new record and bring glory to Madhya Pradesh.
Swimmer Lohiya and his team are departing from New Delhi for New Zealand, where they will participate in the world-class 36-kilometer Cook Strait open water swimming challenge, scheduled for January 26, 2026. The team also includes another para-athlete from Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh. Saddam Khan is also part of this international open water swimming expedition. The team’s coach, Mujeeb, will provide training and technical guidance in New Zealand.
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav, while wishing the entire team success with the tricolor flag, said that Satyendra Singh Lohiya has previously successfully conquered extremely challenging international open water swimming challenges like the English Channel, bringing honor to the state and the country on the world stage. The CM said that athletes like Lohiya are symbols of the immense potential, courage, and self-confidence of persons with disabilities and are an inspiration for the youth.
