With strong willpower, innovation, and the zeal to achieve something new, extraordinary transformation can be scripted even with limited resources. This is precisely what has been demonstrated by Dr. Archana Shukla, a science teacher at Government Sandipani Mahatma Gandhi Higher Secondary School (BHEL) in Bhopal district, and Shailendra Pratap Singh, a secondary teacher (English) and in-charge Headmaster at Government Middle School Kanjwar in Sidhi district.
Through their innovations, dedication, community participation, and student-centric approach, both teachers have scripted a new story of transformation in government schools. Their remarkable efforts toward the holistic development of students have not only brought positive changes to the education system but have also brought laurels to their respective districts and the state of Madhya Pradesh at the national level. Both teachers have been selected for the National Teachers’ Award 2026. This outstanding achievement has brought pride to the School Education Department.
The selection process for the National Teachers’ Award is multi-tiered and highly competitive. Dr. Archana Shukla was among the six teachers selected at the state level in Madhya Pradesh and was the only female teacher to represent the state at the national level.
Meanwhile, Shailendra Pratap Singh accomplished the exemplary task of transforming a resource-constrained rural school into an institution with a superior academic environment through his innovative thinking and community engagement. His efforts fostered a positive atmosphere for education within the school and gave a new direction to the holistic development of the students.
