Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appreciated the collective efforts being made for successful reintroduction of cheetahs in the country. This appreciation received from Prime Minister Modi will provide new energy and enthusiasm to all of us. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav extended greetings to people of the state and all field personnel associated with forest conservation on Wildlife Week-2026, which began on October 1.
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav said on ‘X’ on Thursday that it is a matter of pride for Madhya Pradesh that the success of ‘Project Cheetah’ has further strengthened our resolve towards wildlife conservation. In true sense, the credit goes to dedicated efforts of our forest personnel, officers, scientists and local communities. He said that all of us should together contribute to conserving safe habitats for wildlife and maintaining the balance of nature. This will not only strengthen wildlife conservation but also give new direction and momentum to forest tourism in the state.
Dr. Yadav said that Prime Minister Modi issued a message on September 30 in connection with Wildlife Week. In the message, he said that over the past decade, India has achieved several important milestones in the field of wildlife conservation. The success of Project Cheetah is a notable example of this. Along with this, efforts being made for the conservation of species such as the Great Indian Bustard, rhinoceros, gharial, sloth bear, river dolphin and snow leopard are evidence of the expanding scope of our conservation efforts.
In the message, PM Modi said that India, through the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA), is playing a leading role in advancing global cooperation for the conservation of big cat species. This platform provides an opportunity to share our experiences related to the conservation of major big cat species such as tiger, lion, leopard and jaguar with other countries and learn from them. Connectivity among their habitats is essential for the safe movement of wildlife and maintaining the balance of nature. The Central Government, in collaboration with the states, is continuously working to identify and conserve wildlife corridors.
PM said our conservation journey derives strength from the dedication of frontline forest personnel, scientists and conservationists, as well as the invaluable participation of local communities. Along with wildlife conservation, coexistence between humans and wildlife is also essential. In this direction, special attention is being given to timely information and prompt response, better monitoring, scientific management, awareness at the local level and better coordination among states.
In his message, Prime Minister Modi appealed to people of the country that along with the efforts of government, everyone should contribute at their own level to protecting wildlife and their habitats. When forests and wildlife remain safe, the balance of nature will also be maintained. This will be the most valuable legacy for our coming generations. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has also appealed to everyone to cooperate in conservation of wildlife.
