Alwar: A proposal is being prepared to expand Sariska’s area in view of the increasing tiger population in Rajasthan’s Sariska.
Sariska’s Deputy Forest Conservator, Abhimanyu Saharan, stated that parts of Dausa and Jaipur districts will be included in Sariska. The proposal to expand Sariska’s area to 1,829 square kilometers is being proposed, and implementation has begun. This proposal will be submitted by the Alwar Sariska administration to the state government. It is expected that the proposal will receive final approval soon.
He stated that the inclusion of the Jaipur and Dausa buffer zones in Sariska is being considered. The state government has formed a committee to address this buffer zone. A committee meeting has already been held, where work has been completed on Dausa and Jaipur.
Alwar Sariska has the largest area, so work is underway on this area. Sariska currently has an area of 1,229 square kilometers. There is a proposal to expand the area by approximately 600 square kilometers in Jaipur and Dausa.
Saharan stated that this would bring Sariska’s area to 1,829 square kilometers. Work on this proposal is underway and will be implemented soon, as the expansion of the forest is crucial for the new cubs that will establish their territories as a result of the expansion of Sariska’s area.
