Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan will undertake a plantation drive on Wednesday, August 12, on the auspicious occasion of ‘Hariyali Amavasya’, along with hundreds of colleagues at the PBG Ground, Central Range, near Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi.
At the same time, thousands of members across the country associated with Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s Vriksh Mitra Abhiyan will also undertake plantation drives in their respective villages and cities in response to his appeal. On this occasion, a collective pledge has been taken to plant more than 50,000 saplings across the country.
The initiative aims to encourage people to celebrate Hariyali Amavasya through active participation in plantation activities and to reinforce the importance of protecting and nurturing the environment. Members of the Vriksh Mitra Abhiyan will participate in the initiative from different parts of the country, taking the message of environmental responsibility to their respective communities and encouraging wider public participation in plantation activities.
Hariyali Amavasya is a festival to express gratitude towards nature

Hariyali Amavasya is a festival that provides an opportunity to express gratitude towards nature. The greenery spread across the fields and the hope of a new crop arriving fills the mind with happiness and joy. Plantation can become a way of expressing appreciation for the natural environment while also encouraging a sense of responsibility towards its conservation.
Thousands of members of Vriksh Mitra Parivar to plant saplings
Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that members of the Vriksh Mitra Parivar have resolved to celebrate Hariyali Amavasya on August 12 by undertaking plantation drives in their respective villages, cities and panchayats. He said that he himself would also plant saplings in Delhi along with his colleagues on the day.
He appealed to the people of the country to make the auspicious occasion of Hariyali Amavasya memorable by planting at least one sapling and contributing towards environmental conservation.
Every person should plant one sapling
The Union Minister said that planting a sapling is not merely an act of protecting the environment, but also a way of laying the foundation for a safe, secure and beautiful future for generations to come.
