Actors Gulshan Devaiah and Rasika Dugal’s family feature Little Thomas, currently running in cinemas, stands out for a rare creative alignment: the coming together of three distinct National Film Award winners.
Written and directed by Kaushal Oza—a National Award winner for his acclaimed short films Vaishnav Jan Toh and Afterglow—the project first gained momentum when producer Ranjan Singh came on board. Singh, whose producer credits include landmark titles like Masaan, Queen, NH10, and Udta Punjab, liked the script and brought it to filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, marking the second National Award-winning collaborator on the team.
For Kashyap, whose body of work includes Gangs of Wasseypur, Ugly, Dev D, and the National Award-winning Masaan which he had co-produced, the script offered an intimate, heart-warming narrative centered on family dynamics.
To score the film, Singh and Oza sought a composer capable of capturing the story’s specific warmth. They brought in the third National Award winner of the team, composer Shailendra Barve (who was recognised for his work in Samhita). Known for crafting iconic melodies like “Mera Jahan” from Taare Zameen Par, Barve composed the acoustic, breezy soundtrack tailored to 1990s Goa.
Also starring breakout young lead Hridansh Parekh, Little Thomas follows a seven-year-old boy’s innocent quest to bring his family together. The film is produced by Luminoso Pictures, Civic Studios, Good Bad Films, and Flip Films.
