Vidisha: A one-day training workshop on disaster awareness was organized by SDERF and Home Guard personnel under the leadership of TI Ganjbasoda at CM Rise School, Ganjbasoda on Saturday, October 11.
District Home Guard Commandant Manik Jain said that about 200 students participated in the program and learned about various disaster management strategies, including earthquakes, fires, floods, road accidents, and lightning strikes.
During the workshop, students were taught rescue measures to be adopted during a disaster through practical demonstrations. These included safe evacuation procedures in case of a fire, the “drop, cover, and hold” technique during an earthquake, reaching a safe place during a flood and maintaining contact with rescue teams, precautions for rescuing a drowning person, and live demonstrations of first aid and CPR in case of electric shock.
District Commandant Jain stated that the main objective of the workshop was to increase children’s awareness of disasters, develop self-confidence in self-defense, and build the ability to make informed decisions in a crisis situation.
The school staff also appreciated this initiative, calling it a highly informative and practical training. At the end of the program, the school principal expressed his gratitude to the Home Guard and SDERF team.
