Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is a state rich in heritage, and the government is now determined to preserve this cultural wealth. The goal is to protect and celebrate this heritage in a way that not only instills pride among the people but also becomes a significant source of employment.
In a historic move, a decision regarding the preservation of these heritages may be taken during the upcoming cabinet meeting on Saturday, to be held in Singhrampur, located in Jabera tehsil of Damoh district. This marks the first time a cabinet meeting in the state will be held outdoors. The venue is designed to commemorate the 500th birth anniversary of Rani Durgavati, with the meeting site resembling her fort, including a grand, fort-like entrance and a newly constructed Shiva temple.
The cabinet meeting will commence at 11:30 AM. Many ministers have already begun arriving in Jabalpur, as the travel distance from Jabalpur to Damoh is short. Most ministers will head to Singhrampur from Jabalpur on the morning of the meeting, and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav is expected to arrive on Saturday morning as well.
A key agenda item for the cabinet will be a proposal to allocate funds for the preservation of Madhya Pradesh’s culturally and historically significant sites. Another proposal related to pollution-free river management and the Narmada-Sunar-Kopra link project may also be discussed.
In addition, the Tourism Department has put forward a proposal to develop a resort in Singhrampur under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, which could receive cabinet approval. This initiative is expected to boost tourism, drawing more visitors to the area.
Another proposal for consideration is the development of the airstrip in Sitanagar, which could be transformed into a fully functioning airstrip. Singhrampur itself may be developed as a tourist destination, with plans to construct an auditorium and possibly open a CM Rise School in the region.
As part of the celebrations, officials will visit key local heritage sites such as Singaurgarh Fort, Nidanakund Waterfall, and the ancient Durga Mata Temple.
The event’s venue has been meticulously designed to reflect the grandeur of Rani Durgavati’s fort. The layout features impressive stone walls, arched windows, and decorative elements that emphasize the authenticity of a medieval fortress. Gond art, known for its intricate designs, will be a key part of the decorations, highlighting Rani Durgavati’s deep ties with the Gond community of the Singrampur region.
A special feature of the cabinet meeting will be the unique dining experience arranged for the ministers. The food area has been styled after the courtyard of a traditional Gond village, where guests will enjoy their meals under the shade of trees. The meals will be served in ancient bronze utensils, sourced from Hata, enhancing the cultural authenticity of the event. Additionally, special offices for the ministers, designed with Gond-inspired art and murals, will blend functionality with cultural aesthetics.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to preserving the state’s rich heritage while fostering tourism and employment opportunities for the people of Madhya Pradesh.
