The first Vindhya Herbal Forest Fair will be organized in Ujjain, the city of Mahakal, during the upcoming Mahashivratri festival. This five-day fair, under the aegis of the Forest Department, will be held from February 12 to 16, 2026, at Dussehra Maidan, Ujjain. The fair is proposed to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on February 12.
The objective of this forest fair is to connect the general public with forests, environment, wildlife conservation, Ayurveda and traditional knowledge, forest produce-based herbal products, AYUSH, health, biodiversity, and tribal culture.
Herbal products, Ayurvedic medicines, handicrafts based on forest produce, and regional delicacies from Madhya Pradesh and various other states of the country will be displayed at the fair. Herbs and forest produce available in various regions of the state and the country will be available for the public to see and purchase.
Ujjain has been the glorious capital of Emperor Vikramaditya, and this city has been a global center of timekeeping, astrology, and cultural consciousness for centuries. In line with this historical legacy, this fair will provide new heights to the identity and cultural glory of the district. Herbal producers, processors, and buyers and sellers of herbal products from all over Madhya Pradesh will participate in the fair.
More than 140 products of Vindhya Herbal will be displayed at the fair. These include body lotion made from Mahua, anti-aging cream, Growvit for children, Mahua-infused Chyawanprash, lab-tested forest honey, and Shilajit. These products will have a special identity due to being a government brand, having laboratory test reports, and Ayurvedic processing.
An international herbal workshop and a buyer-seller conference will be organized during the fair. Free consultations will also be provided daily by more than 200 Ayurvedic physicians. Exhibitions based on the schemes of various branches of the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department will also be set up. For the convenience of the general public, a free bus service will be operated from the Mahakal Temple to the fairgrounds. E-rickshaws will also be available at a nominal charge. Special arrangements, including golf carts and wheelchairs, will be made for people with disabilities and senior citizens.
