Bhopal. “If we want a better environment, young people must adopt simple water-saving practices,” said senior environmentalist and author Abhilash Khandekar, speaking as the keynote speaker at ‘Vasudha – Environment and Arts Festival 2025’, jointly organized by Helpbox Foundation and Career Group.
He called on the youth to take personal responsibility for water conservation, sanitation, and a green lifestyle. Khandekar also administered an oath to students in the audience, encouraging them to play an active role in keeping their city clean, beautiful, and healthy. On the occasion, he also distributed awareness booklets and pamphlets on environmental issues.
In an interactive session, young environmentalist Sakshi Bhardwaj inspired the youth by saying, “If you don’t act now to protect the environment, there will be nothing left for the generations to come.”
She emphasized the importance of critical inquiry: “Young people must know that they have the right to ask ‘why’. Question those who act recklessly by littering public spaces, wasting water, or indiscriminately using single-use plastic and polythene.”
Sakshi further stressed that living an organic life requires small yet permanent changes in one’s daily routine.
In recognition of her outstanding environmental contributions, Sakshi Bhardwaj was honored with the ‘Helpbox Vasudha Samman’. The dialogue session was moderated by Sunil Shukla and Sunil Avasarkar.
As part of the festival, students of Career College staged a thought-provoking street play on the theme “Save Forests and Tigers”, which left a strong impression on the audience. The event also witnessed the release of the annual publication ‘Vasudha – 2025’, featuring stories and innovations centered on the environment.
Manish Rajoria, Chairman of Career Group, delivered a compelling message on the need to break free from consumerist thinking and embrace ecological responsibility. The college’s principal, Dr. Charanjeet Kaur, beautifully explained the concept of the environment through the lens of DNA and scientific reasoning.
The event was attended by Career College faculty, students from various institutions, environmentalists, cleanliness volunteers, and a large number of enthusiastic youth. Ms. Kavita Avasarkar, Chairperson of Helpbox Foundation, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks. The event was conducted by Sunil Shukla.
