Rajgarh Fort Wall Collapse: A devastating accident occurred on Thursday morning in the Datia district of Madhya Pradesh, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals due to the collapse of a wall at Rajgarh Fort. Among the deceased, five were members of the same family, while two others sustained injuries.
Rescue operations conducted by police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) lasted for seven hours, but efforts were hampered by the narrow access path, which prevented the use of heavy machinery like JCBs.
Eyewitnesses told that we were sleeping at 3:30 in the morning, when suddenly a very loud sound was heard. When we came out, we saw that the wall had collapsed. Two people buried under the debris were immediately taken out and rushed to the hospital. Police were informed by calling on Dial 100, after which policemen also reached and started helping in evacuating people.
The victims included Niranjan Vanskar (55), his children Suraj, Shivam, and Radha, as well as his wife Mamta. Additionally, Kishan, the son of Panna Lal, and his wife Prabha also died in the incident. Munna, son of Khitte Vanskar, and his son Akash suffered serious injuries and are currently hospitalized. The rescue operation, which began at 3 AM, focused on recovering the bodies of the deceased.
Following the accident, local residents expressed their anger around 8 AM, accusing authorities of negligence in debris removal. They claimed that while efforts had been underway since 4 AM, the rescue team had not successfully extracted anyone. In response, Collector Sandeep Makin, SP Virendra Mishra, and TI Dhirendra Mishra arrived at the scene to calm the crowd and provide updates on the ongoing rescue efforts by the SDRF team.
