Bhopal: MP Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra will work together across multiple sectors, including industry, cultural and spiritual traditions, tourism, and horticulture. He emphasized that both states will jointly preserve their shared cultural heritage and increase activities of mutual cooperation in these areas.
CM Dr. Yadav expressed these views on Saturday at Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium following the MoU signing ceremony related to the Tapi Mega Recharge Project.
Jabalpur–Nagpur Corridor
Dr. Yadav mentioned that a significant volume of pharmaceuticals, textiles, and agricultural products from Madhya Pradesh is exported through various ports in Maharashtra. The two states will consider establishing a dedicated export facilitation cell at Maharashtra’s ports. He also emphasized that building a dedicated freight corridor between Jabalpur and Nagpur would result in significant savings in cost, time, and freight charges for goods transportation in Central India.
Religious Tourism Circuit to be developed
CM Mohan Yadav proposed that a religious tourism circuit can be developed by connecting the two Jyotirlingas of Madhya Pradesh—Shri Mahakaleshwar and Shri Omkareshwar—with Maharashtra’s Jyotirlingas—Shri Trimbakeshwar, Shri Bhimashankar, and Shri Grishneshwar. These pilgrimage sites are major centers of faith for citizens of both states and the country.
Highlighting Devi Ahilya’s Contributions Among Youth
CM Yadav said that Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar had a strong association with Maharashtra. Efforts are underway to provide training and promote entrepreneurship for the weaver community in Maheshwar and other parts of Malwa. The cultural, religious, and administrative legacy of Ahilyabai Holkar can be introduced to the current generation through light and sound shows and theatrical performances in major cities of both states. He added that a cabinet meeting will be held at Rajwada, Indore, on May 20 to honor Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar.
Pride in the Glorious History of Brave Warriors
Dr. Yadav stated that the Maratha rule had deep links with Madhya Pradesh. The histories of valiant warriors like Bajirao Peshwa, the Holkars, Shindes (Scindias), Tatya Tope, Rani Lakshmi Bai, and Appaji Bhonsle will be compiled and digitized as part of a historical preservation effort.
Banana and Mango Festivals
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav highlighted that Madhya Pradesh hosts the Banana Festival in Burhanpur, while Maharashtra is known for the Mango Festival in Ratnagiri. By linking these festivals, both states can promote tourism and horticulture activities.
