Minister of State for Panchayat and Rural Development, Radha Singh, visited the seven-day Rakhi fair organized for self-help groups at Bhopal Haat. During the visit, she engaged in warm interactions with the women (‘Didis’) from self-help groups representing various districts of the state, gathered detailed information about the livelihood products they had created, and boosted their morale by purchasing some of the items.
During the tour, Vinay Nigam, CEO of the Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission, briefed the Minister on the fair’s activities and the various stalls. Radha Singh appreciated the quality of the attractive Rakhis, pure sweets, handmade textiles, decorative items, and traditional food products prepared by the women. She remarked that this initiative plays a crucial role in making rural women self-reliant and skilled entrepreneurs. Maihar MLA Shrikant Chaturvedi was also present on the occasion.
This seven-day fair is being organized from August 20 to 26 by the Livelihood Mission under the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, with the aim of providing a wider market for products made by self-help groups. Open daily from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the fair offers shopping opportunities alongside cultural performances by various artists. The event is not only a celebration of the hard work and skills of rural women but also a unique symbol of Madhya Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage and women’s empowerment.
