
The budget session of Parliament will begin on January 31. Before the budget session begins, President Droupadi Murmu will address the joint session of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
The budget session will end on April 4. During the budget session, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the general budget.
The general budget may be presented on February 1. Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget for the eighth time in a row. Before this, the economic survey will be presented.
The second phase of the budget session will run from March 10 to April 4.
Parliament proceedings will not be held on the day of Delhi elections. After February 3, there will be a debate in the House on the motion of thanks on the President’s address. The budget session will end with the reply of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in both the houses of the House.
During the budget session, the government can end the old tax regime. The new tax regime was implemented from April 1, 2020. It has been made the default tax regime from 1 April 2023.
This is going to be the fourth session of the 18th Lok Sabha. This will be the first budget session of the third term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After the Lok Sabha elections, the Modi government will present its full budget.
The previous winter session, held from November 25 to December 21, 2024, faced lot of disruptions, leading to the adjournment of House proceedings for the first four days. During that session, a total of 20 Lok Sabha meetings and 19 Rajya Sabha meetings were conducted.
