On the 40th anniversary of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, a Sarvadharma Sabha was organised at Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) on Tuesday, 3 December. Elderly gas victims were honoured on the occasion and a special cover was released by the Postal Department on the BMHRC entering its 25th year.
Religious leaders of all religions recited their religious scriptures in the Sarvadharma Sabha which began near the ‘Shraddhanjali and Asha’ memorial at 8:30 am in BMHRC premises. After this, 20 elderly gas victims above 85 years of age were honoured. Among them, one was 108-year-old Mathura Bai. All the patients were presented with shawls, a memento and blankets.

Apart from this, health camps were organized in all the health centers of BMHRC with the cooperation of the Health Department of the Government of Madhya Pradesh. In these camps, health checkup of people, free checkup and medicine distribution, screening of non-communicable diseases were done.
Abha and Ayushman IDs were made in the camps. Blankets have also been donated for poor patients by Rotary Club and Mahavir International, which were distributed in the wards.
BMHRC has recently entered the 25th year of its establishment. To mark this contribution of the institute on the 40th anniversary of the gas tragedy, a special cover was released by the Indian Postal Department. On this occasion, Chief Post Master General of MP Circle Vineet Mathur, Head of Postal Services Pawan Kumar Dalmia and Director-in-charge of BMHRC Dr. Manisha Srivastava were present.
Governor Mangubhai Patel participated in the Shraddhanjali and Sarvadharma Sabha organized at the Central Library Barkatullah Bhawan in memory of the gas victims. In the meeting, several religious leaders spoke in memory of the deceased.
Governor and the people present in the meeting also paid tribute to the deceased by observing a two-minute silence.
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav paid a heartfelt tribute to the deceased victims on the 40th anniversary of the Bhopal gas tragedy. He said that on the day of this disaster, I was on my way to Bhopal. Its pain can be felt only by those who have experienced it. He said that I visited the gas-affected areas. CM prayed to Lord Shri Mahakal for the good health of those affected in the gas tragedy.
