Shriya Pilgaonkar, daughter of veteran actors Sachin and Supriya Pilgaonkar, has always felt supported by her parents in her career choices. In a recent conversation with the media, she shared that despite her parents’ prominence in the film industry, they have never imposed their views on her role selections. “I have never really been told by anyone not to do this or that. My parents have always believed in me,” Shriya said.
She emphasized the importance of understanding the purpose behind every scene, especially when it comes to romance or passionate sequences. “When it comes to romance or passionate scenes, it is important that we understand what the intention is. Reading the script and its treatment tells us what the intention of the scene is. The audience also understands why it is done. So, I also look at those scenes from that perspective,” she added.
Shriya made it clear that her parents have never been judgmental about her professional decisions. However, she understands the responsibility of upholding her parents’ legacy and the goodwill they have built in the industry.
“My parents have never judged me, but it is very important for me to maintain their legacy, respect, and goodwill,” she said. For Shriya, this extends beyond on-screen roles to how she treats everyone on set. “It is not just a question of on-screen scenes but also how I am with everyone on the set. I think a person can be judged by how they behave with others. So, it is very important for me to treat everyone on the set with respect and honour as that helps build goodwill,” she explained.
The beautiful actress also opened up about her personal life, stating that she is currently single. When discussing relationships, she expressed the importance of finding the right connection. “Connection is very important for me. It should be emotional, spiritual, and physical. There should be a perfect balance of all three,” Shriya said.
She added that she looks for a partner who is confident and secure in himself. “I want a partner who is comfortable with himself and is not insecure about his success. It is very important for me that my partner is an energy giver and not an energy taker, and there should be respect.”
When asked about the potential advantages and disadvantages of marrying someone from the same field, given that both her parents are actors, Shriya reflected on their marriage. She appreciated the balance her parents maintained while pursuing their careers.
“My parents kept a balance while getting married. They understand each other’s challenges,” she said, noting that the challenges they faced in their respective careers had helped them support one another. “Both of them were young when they got married, but the challenges they have seen in their careers have proved to be helpful for each other.”
Shriya also shared that she is naturally drawn to creative individuals. “Creative people have always been attractive to me. People who are interested in the arts are important to me,” she concluded, highlighting her appreciation for the artistic world she has grown up in.
