Actor Rasika Dugal mastered complex classical piano compositions in just four months for her upcoming film Little Thomas, even carrying a portable keyboard to another film set to practice between shoots.
Directed by Kaushal Oza and co-starring Gulshan Devaiah, Little Thomas offers a glimpse into the quiet life and innocent chaos of a Goan family. Playing Jessie Miranda, Dugal learned 45 seconds of compositions by Mozart, Schumann, and Chopin to bring her character’s love for music to life.
Trained by instructor Nitesh Dean, she learned to coordinate both hands while playing. As she was simultaneously filming a horror project, she continued practicing between takes.
“I carried a keyboard with me on shoot and happily played away between filming scenes of a horror show,” Dugal shared, adding that the preparation introduced her to an unfamiliar world and led to a poignant moment in the film.
Little Thomas releases on October 23, produced by Luminoso Pictures, Civic Studios, Good Bad Films, Flip Films, and Anurag Kashyap.
