On the occasion of International Day of Yoga 2026, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board organized a state-level yoga event at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre in Bhopal. Participants also received inspiring guidance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi by virtually joining the national event held in Kolkata, West Bengal.
Dr. Ilaiyaraja T. (Managing Director, MP Tourism Board and Secretary, Tourism), Dr. Abhay Bedekar (Additional Managing Director), and Dr. Ankesh Bhadauria (Sant Hirdaram Medical College) joined other officials and staff members in practicing yoga during the event.
Mass Yoga Session Held on the Theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”
Along with Tourism Board officials, elderly residents from the Seva Samiti Old Age Home also enthusiastically participated in the yoga practice. A trained team from the Sant Hirdaram Institute of Ayurveda and Naturopathy conducted the mass yoga session—themed “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”—for the officials and staff of the MP Tourism Board.
Message of Yoga Resonates Across the State’s Major Tourist Destinations
At various tourist destinations across the state, the Tourism Board and local administrations organized mass yoga sessions with public participation, where everyone pledged to make yoga a part of their daily lives. On this occasion, MP Tourism Board officials practiced yoga at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre, while officials from the Tourism Development Corporation did so at the Boat Club.
Similarly, at tourist sites such as Khajuraho, Sanchi, Udayagiri, Gwalior Fort, Indore’s ’56 Dukan’, and Tamia, events based on the “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” theme were organized to educate female students about the importance of physical and mental health through yoga.
