Betul: Rakhi Bedre, a young athlete from Betul district in Madhya Pradesh, has achieved a remarkable feat by securing a place in the state women’s kabaddi team despite financial constraints and adverse circumstances. She has been selected for the Federation Cup Kabaddi Championship to be held in Satna from March 19 to 22, 2026.
A resident of Khapa Khateda village, Rakhi’s childhood was marked by struggles. She recounted her parents’ abandonment when she was four years old, after which she was raised by her maternal uncle, Tularam Chauhan.
Due to poor financial circumstances, she had to discontinue her studies after the tenth grade. However, she later resumed her education by working part-time and passed the higher secondary examination from Amla.
Rakhi began kabaddi at a girls’ school in Amla and later began regular practice at a sports training institute in Betul. To hone her talent, she received specialized training in Jaipur. She is currently in Delhi preparing for the Federation Cup.
This competition is being organized under the auspices of the Indian Amateur Kabaddi Federation. The Madhya Pradesh Amateur Kabaddi Association has been entrusted with the responsibility of organizing the event in the state, while the local operations will be handled by the District Amateur Kabaddi Association, Satna.
Nitesh Singh Rajput, Secretary of the Madhya Pradesh Kabaddi Association, expressed confidence that Rakhi will make the state proud by performing excellently at the national level. According to local sports lovers, Rakhi’s success is an inspiration for other girls in the district.
