The Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS), in collaboration with AI Universal University, hosted a thought-provoking lecture on “Cultural Intelligence (CQ): Navigating Diversity and Inclusion in the Global Workplace”.
The session was delivered by Prof. Vijay Tandon, Dean – Internationalization, AI Universal University, who addressed students on the growing importance of cultural adaptability in today’s globalized work environment.
Prof. Tandon emphasized that Cultural Intelligence (CQ) is the ability to work effectively in diverse cultural settings, and is a key skill for future leaders. He outlined strategies for developing CQ, including self-awareness, exposure to diverse environments, empathy, active listening, adaptability, and expanding knowledge of global issues.
Highlighting the skills of the future, he stressed the need for problem-solving, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, innovation, creativity, and strategic thinking, in addition to cultural adaptability. To engage the audience, he conducted interactive quizzes on global brands and logos, linking them with cross-cultural understanding in international business.
Speaking on the challenges of globalization, Prof. Tandon pointed out that many international business ventures fail due to cross-cultural differences. He urged students to view diversity as a strength and inclusion as the pathway to success in the workplace.
Concluding his address with a powerful statement, Prof. Tandon remarked, “AI will not take your jobs; people skilled with AI will.”
The session was organized by Dr. Lila Simon and Dr. Mahendra Vishwakarma, under the guidance of Dr. Smitha Pillai, HOD – Management Department. The event drew active participation from final year students, who appreciated the practical insights into preparing for a culturally diverse, technology-driven future.
