Mrs. Jyoti Lodhi, a resident of village Gunga (development block Berasia) in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal, has proved that if determination and government schemes are together, then any woman can touch the heights of self-reliance. Jyoti, who once lived a life with limited resources, is today recognized in the village as a successful businesswoman and Bank Sakhi (bank friend).
Jyoti started a general store by obtaining a loan of Rs 1,00,000 from Indian Bank under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana. After this, she took an additional loan of Rs 50,000 through the self-help group and expanded her business. Not only this, she is now providing banking facilities to the villagers at their doorstep as a Bank Sakhi – which includes filling forms, photocopies of documents, and guidance regarding schemes. Through all these efforts, her monthly income has now reached Rs 13,000 to Rs 14,000.
Jyoti says, “If the government schemes are adopted at the right time and wisely, every woman can bring a change in her life.” Today, Jyoti Lodhi is not only financially independent, but she has also become an inspiration for other women of village Gunga with her confidence and dedication. Her journey shows that when there is willpower, no dream remains incomplete.
