A special lecture on the topic ‘Science Society and Culture: A Holistic Approach for Developed India was organized at NITTTR Bhopal.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Ranjana Agrawal, Director CSIR-NISPER. The lecture was chaired by Prof. CC Tripathi, Director, NITTTR.
In her lecture, Dr. Ranjana Agarwal stated that the tradition of science has existed in India since time immemorial. The evidence found from the excavations of Harappa and Mohenjodaro is a proof that those people had an understanding of science.
One of the greatest achievements of science in India in ancient times is the surgery discovered by Maharishi Sushruta. The world today considers him the ‘Father of Surgery’. Nagarjuna gave birth to chemistry. Man and science develop simultaneously. A holistic approach to science, society and culture is extremely important for the vision of a developed India.
Dr. Ranjana further explained in her lecture that science is a part of our society and culture. Man has made the most difficult task easy through science. Today, the scale of the country’s progress depends on science and technology. The more the country progresses in the field of science, the stronger its economy will be. No society or nation can be imagined by separating science. We will develop India only from the holistic view of science, society and culture, Dr Ranjana added.
At the end of the program, Director Prof. CC Tripathi congratulated and thanked Dr. Ranjana Agarwal for delivering a special lecture on an important topic. Dr. Dinesh Agarwal, Vice Chancellor, University of Gurugram, and Dr. S.S. Panda, Former Director NITTTR Chennai and faculty, officers and employees of the institute were present and the program was conducted by Smt. Gunjan Sharma.
