On the occasion of World EV Day, an electric vehicle awareness rally and an EV Expo were organized in Bhopal on Wednesday by the Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), in collaboration with the Urban Development and Housing Department and with technical coordination from ‘Cities Forum’.
The rally was flagged off from Govindpura Dussehra Ground and traversed key commercial and residential routes of the city before reaching the MANIT campus. More than 50 diverse electric vehicles participated in the rally, spreading the message of environmental conservation.
These included two-wheelers, personal cars, e-autos, commercial e-autos, electric pickup vehicles, and eco-friendly electric buses. The primary objective of the event was to familiarize citizens with the benefits of zero-emission transport and to foster public participation in improving urban air quality.
Abhishek Saraf, Additional Commissioner (Urban Development and Housing), stated that the state government is committed to building a robust, safe, and eco-friendly mobility ecosystem aligned with future needs through the ‘Madhya Pradesh Electric Vehicle Policy-2025’.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Anju Arun Kumar, CEO of Bhopal Smart City Development Corporation and Additional Commissioner of Bhopal Municipal Corporation, described citizen participation and innovation as the backbone of urban transport.
Showcase by leading vehicle manufacturers at the MANIT EV Expo: At the EV Expo held on the MANIT campus, renowned automobile manufacturers showcased their latest electric vehicles, advanced technologies, and battery solutions. Major companies such as Mahindra, Tata Motors, Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Kia, BYD, MG Motor, Ola Electric, Ather Energy, and Simple Energy participated in this expo.
This collaborative event impressively showcased the shared commitment of MANIT Bhopal and the Urban Development and Housing Department toward establishing a clean, green, and sustainable urban transport system.
Shaping the Future of Green and Sustainable Transport through the Madhya Pradesh EV Policy-2025: The ‘Madhya Pradesh Electric Vehicle Policy-2025,’ implemented by the state government to promote eco-friendly, clean, and sustainable urban transport, is establishing the state as a leader in the field of e-mobility. Under this policy, five major cities of the state—Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, and Ujjain—are being developed as model EV cities.
