Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Arvind Kejriwal, initiated the Rewadi Par Charcha campaign on Friday, aiming to showcase AAP’s welfare initiatives as the Delhi Assembly elections-2025 approach. The campaign is set to involve 65,000 meetings across Delhi, where AAP volunteers will distribute pamphlets detailing six key free services, referred to as “rewadis,” pr freebies provided by the AAP-led Delhi government.
Kejriwal emphasized the significant achievements of AAP in Delhi, highlighting the six free services available to residents. The campaign seeks to engage voters directly, inquiring whether they wish to continue benefiting from these services.
Kejriwal pointed out the positive impact of these initiatives and their popularity among citizens. With AAP’s term concluding on February 23, 2025, and elections anticipated early next year, Kejriwal reminded voters of AAP’s previous success in the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, where the party won 62 out of 70 seats.
Additionally, he proposed providing ₹1,000 per month to women, reiterating AAP’s commitment to welfare measures.
In a broader political context, Kejriwal criticized the BJP for neglecting Delhi’s development over the past decade. He noted that, as a Union Territory, the central government shares governance responsibilities in Delhi. Kejriwal argued that while the BJP governs in 20 states, it does not implement similar welfare initiatives as AAP does in Delhi.
Kejriwal also addressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s criticisms of AAP’s welfare policies, defending these initiatives as genuine benefits for residents and a testament to effective governance in the capital.
Kejriwal seized the moment to challenge Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, accusing them of failing to fulfill promises made to the Purvanchal community in Delhi. He claimed that Shah and Puri had pledged to facilitate the registration of unauthorized colonies where many Purvanchali residents live, yet no registrations have occurred in the past five years. In contrast, Kejriwal asserted that AAP has taken concrete actions to enhance the lives of Delhi’s Purvanchali population.
