Madhya Pradesh CM Dr. Mohan Yadav will release CCB2, a female cheetah brought to India from Botswana, into the forests of Gandhisagar Sanctuary. With the arrival of the new female cheetah, Gandhisagar will have a total of four cheetahs—two males and two females.
This will further strengthen cheetah conservation and reintroduction efforts in Gandhisagar. CCB2’s arrival marks the continued expansion of Project Cheetah and the carrying forward of India’s cheetah legacy. Her journey from Botswana to India, and then from Kuno to Gandhisagar, marks the beginning of a new chapter in cheetah conservation in another natural habitat.
Cheetahs Prabhash, Pavak and Dheera at Gandhisagar Sanctuary are eagerly awaiting the arrival of CCB2, who was brought to India from Ghanzi, Botswana, on February 28, 2026, and arrived at Kuno National Park in Sheopur. She arrived as a symbol of hope for a new generation of cheetahs in India.
After completing her quarantine period, CCB2 was released into the forests of Kuno in May 2026. She adapted quickly to Indian conditions, becoming well acclimatised to the forest landscape and the Kuno ecosystem.
CCB2 is now being transferred from Kuno National Park to Gandhisagar Sanctuary, where she will join three other cheetahs. From Botswana to Kuno and now from Kuno to Gandhisagar, her journey represents a new beginning and continuity in cheetah conservation as she moves from one wild ecosystem to another.
