An inspiring lecture on the topic of Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation was delivered by Virag Bohre of Raag Innovations at the National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research (NITTTR), Bhopal conducted by Institute Innovation Council. Raag Innovations is a leading social enterprise working in the field of menstrual hygiene management and low-cost construction techniques.
In his lecture, Bohre shared his entrepreneurial journey not as a success story, but as a narrative of real-life lessons, challenges, failures, and experiences. He emphasized the importance of social entrepreneurship and how it can effectively address various societal issues. He highlighted that entrepreneurship is not merely a means of making profits, but plays a crucial role in bringing about broader societal change. A short film produced by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, was also screened during the session.
NITTTR Director Professor C.C. Tripathi said that in today’s world, startups and innovation have become crucial factors in shaping the direction and future of society. It is our duty to utilize our entrepreneurial potential not only for economic gain but also to bring about positive change in society. Mr. Bouhre’s experience clearly demonstrates that a successful startup is not only important from a financial perspective but can also play a significant role in solving various societal issues and improving living standards.
The key topics discussed during the session included open discussions on menstruation and social taboos, the role of engineers and teachers in social change, experiences of working in Dantewada (Chhattisgarh) and the Himalayan border regions, and the importance of team building, compliance, and work discipline. The session was chaired by Prof. V. K. Tripathi, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and coordinated by Prof. Srinu. Faculty members, staff, and students of the institute attended the lecture.
