New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced its initial list of eleven candidates for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections scheduled for February 2025. This announcement follows a meeting of the party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) led by AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal at his residence in New Delhi.
Among the eleven candidates, six have recently transitioned from either the BJP or Congress to join AAP. The new members include Brahm Singh Tanwar, BB Tyagi, and Anil Jha who defected from the BJP, as well as Zubair Chaudhary, Veer Singh Dhingan, and Sumesh Shaukeen who defected from Congress.
The current term of the Delhi Assembly concludes on 23 February 2025. In the last assembly elections held in February 2020, the Aam Aadmi Party achieved a significant victory, securing 62 out of 70 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party won only 8 seats, and Congress did not secure any seats.
