Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu has shared her candid views on social media regarding fitness and body image. She stated that many prevailing notions concerning women’s bodies differ significantly from reality. In particular, she spoke openly about the obsession with achieving a flat stomach and a “zero figure,” explaining that having a little fat in the lower abdominal area is by no means an indication of poor fitness.
Sharing a post on her Instagram Story, Taapsee Pannu revealed that there was a time when she, too, strove to achieve a completely flat stomach. She mentioned that she has been fit since childhood and has exercised regularly; yet, despite this, a small amount of fat persisted in her lower abdomen. The actress explained that, at the time, she could not comprehend why—despite her consistent hard work and workouts—that specific area did not look the way she desired. Consequently, she began exercising excessively.
Excessive Workouts Can Be Harmful
Taapsee said that she later realized it is not right to force the body to work beyond its natural capacity. She explained that when the body experiences excessive stress, it perceives it as a threat and adopts various mechanisms to protect itself. According to her, the bulge often visible in the lower abdomen is not always just fat; it can also be caused by water retention in the body. Exercising excessively can actually exacerbate this condition.
The actress emphasized that every woman’s physical constitution is distinct, and it is inappropriate to compare the bodies of any two individuals. She said that women’s bodies undergo constant hormonal fluctuations, which inevitably impact their physical structure and weight. According to Taapsee Pannu, it is misguided to compare oneself to others based on images seen on social media. Every individual’s body functions in accordance with its own specific needs and biological processes.
