On Saturday, a major accident occurred in Mumbai’s Mulund area when a slab from a pillar of a metro line under construction collapsed. The slab fell on an auto rickshaw and a Skoda car, killing one person and injuring three others. News of the accident has angered many celebrities and they are blaming the administration.
Dia Mirza, expressing her anger over the accident, wrote on her official Twitter handle, “X,”What kind of infrastructure do you support? Is it one that kills, suffocates, and destroys health and life? Or one that cares for and values life.”
Stand-up comedian and writer Varun Grover also strongly condemned the incident. Sharing a video of the accident, he wrote, “Mumbai is the most corrupt city in India, perhaps by a wide margin. Despite being India’s financial capital, it has the worst roads (in the last two years, I’ve seen village roads in almost every Indian state, and they’re better than this), abysmal urban planning, and a complete disregard for human life.”
Singer Rahul Vaidya commented on the incident on Instagram, writing, “I always get scared whenever I pass under a metro bridge, believe me. I’m always afraid of this.”
