Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal’s Prof. Dr. Ruchi Singh of the Department of Physiology presented her research work at the International Society of Pain and Neurosciences conference held in London.
Her research was based on a condition known as fibromyalgia. It is a health problem in which a person experiences widespread body pain, extreme fatigue, mood instability, and issues related to thinking and memory. This condition significantly affects the quality of life of individuals.
The study included more than 100 participants from Bhopal and nearby areas. Along with standard medical care, these individuals were divided into two groups and given either structured yoga practice or specific aerobic exercise. The results showed improvements in pain, sleep quality, mood, and somatic symptoms in both groups. However, yoga was found to be more effective in reducing the intensity of pain.
Dr. Ruchi Singh’s work received high appreciation from international researchers and experts. The study was funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi, highlighting its scientific credibility and importance.
