Farmer organizations in Uttar Pradesh have announced a large-scale demonstration aimed at gheraoing the Parliament. Between 4,000 and 5,000 farmers are expected to gather in Noida around 12 noon before marching toward Delhi. In preparation, Delhi and UP police forces have heightened their alertness, with farmers planning to bring tractors to the demonstration. The police are prepared to block the march, with over 4,000 officers deployed along key routes.
To prevent the farmers from entering Delhi, strict security arrangements have been implemented. Section 163 has been imposed in Noida, and heavy barricading has been set up at critical points, including the Chilla border, which connects Delhi and UP. Senior police officers are stationed at the protest sites to manage the situation.
Vehicle checks are being conducted at various points, resulting in a traffic jam stretching 4-5 kilometers. The Noida Traffic Police has issued an advisory, with several routes diverted to ease congestion. Commuters are advised to avoid key border areas due to heavy delays.
The protest comes after an inconclusive meeting held on December 1 between farmers and officials, including the Noida District Magistrate and CEOs of Greater Noida, Yamuna, and Noida Authorities. The three-hour discussion failed to address the farmers’ concerns, prompting the announcement of the march.
Noida’s Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Shivhari Meena, confirmed that more than 4,000 police personnel have been deployed, ensuring a three-tier security arrangement. Several farmer leaders have already been detained to prevent the escalation of the protest. Authorities remain on high alert to maintain order and prevent the farmers from entering Delhi.
The protest is set to escalate further as two other major farmer organizations, the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, have announced their own march to Delhi, scheduled to begin on December 6. These groups share similar demands, particularly the legal guarantee of MSP.
