Madhya Pradesh CM Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will virtually inaugurate the 53-km Satna–Devendranagar and 65-km Rewa–Churhat rail sections on October 24, in a major step towards strengthening rail connectivity in the Vindhya region.
The Devendranagar–Churhat train service will also be flagged off on the occasion. The new rail sections will provide faster, more convenient travel and strengthen connectivity among Satna, Devendranagar, Rewa, Churhat and surrounding areas. The extension of rail services is expected to improve regional transport and make travel more accessible for residents.
A major milestone will be the direct connection of Sidhi district to the railway network for the first time since Independence. This will make travel easier for residents, students, employees, traders and patients, while improving access to major cities and markets.
The Devendranagar–Churhat train service will strengthen direct connectivity across the Vindhya region, offering passengers a more convenient alternative to road travel. Regular rail services are also expected to reduce travel time and costs.
Improved rail connectivity will support industrial growth, trade, agricultural transportation and the expansion of local markets. It will facilitate the movement of the region’s mineral, agricultural and other products to markets across the country.
The new links will also improve access to the region’s historical, religious and natural tourist destinations, potentially boosting hospitality, transport, food services, handicrafts and other tourism-related activities. This is expected to create new employment and self-employment opportunities for local youth.
The rail sections are also expected to generate direct and indirect employment in transportation, maintenance, trade and services, while benefiting small traders, local entrepreneurs and the rural economy. Students and young people preparing for competitive examinations will find it easier to reach educational institutions and employment centres.
The inauguration marks an important step towards strengthening regional integration and accelerating economic and social development in the Vindhya region, while further connecting it with the wider railway network of Madhya Pradesh and the country.
