Etawah: After a long period of being an endangered species, the sparrow is set to find a sanctuary in Saifai—the hometown of Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav, located in Etawah.
Sunita Yadav, a teacher and ardent sparrow enthusiast, has become extensively active in her efforts to establish a sanctuary for sparrows in Saifai. She remains hopeful that, in the days to come, her initiative will undoubtedly bear fruit.
Following discussions with SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav, the sparrow-loving teacher has dedicated herself to spearheading the initiative to construct a habitat for sparrows within Saifai.
Samajwadi Party National President and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav, has become acutely aware of the plight of the endangered sparrow. The SP Chief has actively begun working towards transforming his hometown of Saifai, Etawah, into a safe haven for these birds.
Sunita Yadav has been entrusted with the responsibility of re-establishing the sparrow population in Saifai. Akhilesh Yadav, along with his wife—Dimple Yadav, the Member of Parliament for Mainpuri—have assigned Sunita the specific task of creating this sparrow sanctuary.
Sunita prepares and distributes sparrow nests to locals
Sunita has been an active advocate for sparrows in Etawah for the past decade. She personally crafts nests for the birds by hand and has, to date, distributed over 1,000 such nests to local residents. Upon learning of Sunita’s deep affection for sparrows, the Samajwadi Party National President and his wife, Dimple, met with her and requested that she undertake the mission of creating a sparrow sanctuary in Saifai.
Sunita notes that for nearly three decades, the winds of development in Saifai—marked by the construction of large buildings and structures—have inadvertently caused the sparrow population to vanish from the area. Nevertheless, the process of re-establishing the sparrows in Saifai has now commenced, and there is great hope that encouraging results will emerge very soon.
