Bhopal: The NCC cadets of Sant Hirdaram Girls College (SHGC), Bhopal, enthusiastically participated in a plantation drive under the initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, commemorating the importance of trees and maternal love for nature.
The event was conducted as part of the larger environmental drive initiated by 1 MP Naval Unit NCC, Bhopal and was observed with full dedication by the cadets, teaching staff, and NCC officers of the college.
On this occasion, Principal Dr. Dalima Parwani addressed the cadets, enlightening them about the significance of plantation and the deep-rooted connection between human life and trees. She emphasized that planting a sapling is not just a responsibility, but its protection, nurturing, and the encouragement of further afforestation are equally vital duties of every individual. She urged the cadets to take environmental responsibility with sincerity and long-term commitment.
Dr. Meenu Tahilyani, Deen, Department of Computer Science was also present during the plantation drive. She motivated all the cadets to wholeheartedly take part in such initiatives. She expressed that “Efforts like these will soon bring a significant change in the new generation and the environment. We will reconnect with nature — something that is essential for our survival and well-being.”
The event stood as a remarkable example of youth engagement for a greener tomorrow and reinforced the college’s ongoing commitment to environmental protection and national service through its NCC activities.
Dr. Shanti Sharma, and NCC Officer of SHGC, congratulated the cadets for their active participation and highlighted that such initiatives not only promote social and environmental awareness, but also teach young cadets valuable life lessons about sustainability and compassion. “This noble drive will guide our cadets toward living a more meaningful and responsible life,” she stated.
