One of the popular couples of Bollywood, Ajay Devgn and Kajol, have been married for 26 years. In a recent interview, Kajol told that their marriage lasted so long because both are completely different from each other.
Kajol, who’s currently promoting her upcoming thriller Maa, recently opened up about her two-decade-long marriage with Ajay Devgn. The couple who has been together since the late ‘90s, sparked separation rumours earlier this year around Valentine’s Day. Kajol had posted a solo picture with a caption about self-love while Ajay shared a tribute post featuring them both. However, there’s been no confirmation or evidence of any split.
Despite their polar opposite personalities, she shared how they make things work. “Oh, I say that quite often that the secret to a happy marriage is partial deafness and selective amnesia,” she laughed.
Explaining her point further, Kajol added, “Kuch cheezein bhoolni bohot zaruri hai, aur kuch cheezein na sunni bohot zaruri hai.” (It is necessary to forget some things and not to listen to some things.)
Kajol said, “If we were the same, it would not have taken so many years, we would have separated long ago.” Kajol said that there is a difference in the thinking and energy of her and Ajay. This is what maintains the balance. She jokingly said, “The secret of a happy marriage is to become a little deaf and forget some things.”
Ajay and Kajol first met in 1995. In 1997, both came close on the set of the film Ishq. Then they got married in 1999.
Ajay and Kajol don’t do date nights. Kajol said, “We don’t do date nights. We only have family time. Either he is at work or I am travelling. So whenever we get time, we spend time with everyone at home.”
When Kajol was asked if the bonding between the two is like friends, she said, “It has been so many years since we got married, I can’t blush now talking about him.”
Kajol’s film ‘Maa’ is a mythological horror film. Kajol will soon be seen in the film ‘Maa’. ‘Maa’ is releasing in theatres on June 27. The film is directed by Vishal Furia and produced by Ajay Devgan, Jyoti Deshpande and Kumar Mangat Pathak.
