The Haryana Assembly elections in 2024 have heated up, with political parties announcing their candidates. The Julana assembly seat has become a focal point of attention after the Congress nominated Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat. The BJP responded by selecting former pilot Yogesh Bairagi, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has put forward WWE female wrestler Kavita Dalal as their candidate.
Kavita Dalal, the AAP’s candidate for the Julana assembly seat, is a prominent wrestler known as the “female Great Khali” of India. Hailing from Malvi village in Jind district and married into Bijwada village in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, Dalal joined the AAP recently. She has gained recognition for defeating notable wrestlers while competing in traditional attire.
The Julana assembly election will see a unique contest featuring two female wrestlers: Vinesh Phogat from Congress and Kavita Dalal from AAP. Alongside them, former pilot and one-time MLA Amarjit Singh Dhanda is also in the race. The Congress last secured the Julana seat in 2005, and since then, it has been held by the JJP and INLD for 15 years, with the BJP yet to win the seat.
