A herd of 12 wild dogs was seen by the field staff during patrolling in the Panpata beat of Pator range of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. Forest officials said that wild dogs are very rare creatures and do not stay at a fixed place but roam here and there in the forests in herds. They have an important role in the ecosystem of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve.
They said that sometimes a herd of wild dogs is seen in the Pator, Manpur and Dhamokhar range of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve.
MP’s 25th sanctuary named after Dr Ambedkar
The state government has issued a notification declaring 258.64 square kilometer reserved forest area of Sagar district as the 25th sanctuary of Madhya Pradesh. This sanctuary will be known by the name of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.
The formation of the sanctuary will conserve and promote forests and wildlife. Along with this, the food chain in the ecosystem will be strengthened and tourism will be promoted. This will create local employment opportunities.
Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Sanctuary will spread over 25864 hectares (258.64 square kilometers) comprising reserved forest area of North Sagar Forest Division Tehsil Banda and Shahgarh forest area of Sagar district.

मध्य प्रदेश के बाँधवगढ़ टाइगर रिजर्व के पतोर परिक्षेत्र की पनपता बीट में फील्ड स्टॉफ द्वारा गश्त के दौरान 12 सोन कुत्तों का झुण्ड देखा गया। क्षेत्र संचालक उमरिया ने बताया कि सोन कुत्ते अत्यंत दुर्लभ जीव हैं और किसी निश्चित स्थान पर न रहकर जंगलों में यहाँ-वहाँ झुण्ड में विचरण करते हैं। बाँधवगढ़ टाइगर रिजर्व के पारिस्थितिक तंत्र में इनकी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका है।
क्षेत्र संचालक उमरिया ने बताया कि बाँधवगढ़ टाइगर रिजर्व की पतौर, मानपुर और धमोखर रेंज में कभी-कभी सोन कुत्तों का झुण्ड दिखायी देता है।
डॉ. भीमराव अंबेडकर के नाम से बना मध्यप्रदेश का 25वाँ अभयारण्य
राज्य शासन ने सागर जिले के 258.64 वर्ग किलोमीटर आरक्षित वन क्षेत्र को मध्यप्रदेश का 25वाँ अभयारण्य घोषित करने की अधिसूचना जारी कर दी गयी। यह अभयारण्य डॉ. भीमराव अंबेडकर के नाम से जाना जायेगा।
अभयारण्य के गठन से वन एवं वन्य-प्राणियों का संरक्षण एवं संवर्धन होगा। साथ ही पारिस्थितिकीय तंत्र में खाद्य श्रृंखला सुदृढ़ होगी और पर्यटन को बढ़ावा मिलेगा। इससे स्थानीय रोजगार के अवसर सृजित होंगे।
डॉ. भीमराव अंबेडकर अभयारण्य सागर जिले के उत्तर सागर वन मण्डल तहसील बंडा एवं शाहगढ़ वन क्षेत्र के 25864 हेक्टेयर (258.64 वर्ग किलोमीटर) आरक्षित वन क्षेत्र की सीमा होगी।
