US President Donald Trump once again said that Canada can become ‘a state’ of America to avoid tariffs.
Trump said, “We have a huge trade deficit with Canada. We cannot continue this anymore.”
“You know I have always said that you can become a state. If you become a state, then there will be no trade deficit and we will not impose tariffs on you etc.”
The US President said that it has been difficult to deal with Canada for years.
Trump said, “It is not fair that there is a trade deficit of 200 billion or 250 billion dollars. We do not need them (Canada) to make our cars.”
He said that we do not need oil and gas from them. We have more of it than any other country.
Trump has also said earlier that if Canada becomes the 51st state of America, then taxes can be reduced by more than 60 percent.
Donald Trump has recently said that until the flow of illegal immigrants and illegally produced fentanyl from across the US borders into the country is stopped, a 25 percent tariff will be imposed on goods coming from Canada.
Meanwhile, a US court has stayed the executive order of President Donald Trump which ended the provision of US citizenship automatically granted to children of non-US parents by birth. The judge of the Federal Court in Seattle, US has temporarily stayed this order.
Four US states had demanded a stay on Trump’s executive order ending the provision of US citizenship automatically granted to children by birth.
When the US Law Department lawyer argued in favour of Trump’s order, the judge asked, “Is this constitutional?“
