Prime Minister Narendra Modi today extended his congratulations to Donald Trump on his significant win in the US Presidential Election. Modi expressed enthusiasm about working with Trump to further advance the India-US Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership. Modi emphasized the strong foundation already established between the two nations.
In a message shared on X, PM Modi wrote: “Heartiest congratulations, my friend @realDonaldTrump, on your historic election victory. As you build on the successes of your previous term, I look forward to renewing our collaboration to further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership. Together, let’s work for the betterment of our people and to promote global peace, stability, and prosperity.”
Analysts at Emkay Global suggest that a Trump victory could impact the global economy in significant ways. According to their report, Chinese stocks may face losses if Trump resumes office, as his policies have previously focused on countering China in economic and strategic areas. Conversely, Emkay Global forecasts potential benefits for India, including increased Foreign Portfolio Investment (FPI) flows, as investors may view a Trump administration as advantageous for India’s economic positioning.
Emkay’s report also highlights that while a Trump victory could trigger a short-term rally in Indian equity markets, the long-term sustainability of this rally would depend on factors like earnings growth and valuation, which currently show some vulnerabilities.
