Bhopal: BSSS Institute of Advanced Studies (BSSS IAS) conducted the National Workshop on Next-Generation Libraries: Driving Digital Innovation & Future-Ready Practices on Saturday. The workshop explored how libraries can transition from traditional knowledge repositories to dynamic, future-ready learning hubs that empower students, faculty, and library professionals alike.
While institutions strive to establish themselves as leading centres of education, the role of libraries is often overlooked. Amid the demands of daily academic and administrative life, the contributions of librarians can easily go unrecognized. Recognizing this, sustained engagement is key. “Workshops like this reinforce the institute’s commitment to transforming libraries into vibrant centres of learning and inspiration,” said Dr. Fr. John P. J., Executive Director, BSSS IAS.
Chief Guest Dr. Manoj Kumar Jain, Senior Advisor at the Centre for HR & Technology, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy (AIGGPA), urged libraries to become more inclusive—supporting startups, promoting digital literacy for the elderly, and enhancing financial education for rural women and youth. He recommended innovations such as podcast facilities and technology solutions to overcome infrastructural gaps, stressing that librarians are not just custodians of books, but guardians of knowledge.
The workshop also featured insights from eminent resource persons, Dr. Sandeep Kumar Pathak (Librarian, IISER Bhopal) and Dr. P.K. Tripathi (Librarian, Regional Institute of Education, Bhopal), who shared their expertise on modern library management, innovative digital library services, augmented libraries with open digital learning resources, and the role of libraries in enhancing academic excellence.
The event witnessed participation from 45 delegates representing over 21 institutions across India, including schools, colleges, and universities, reflecting a strong national commitment to advancing library systems. It marked another milestone in BSSS IAS’s vision to foster innovation, promote collaboration, and lead the development of next-generation libraries.
