The 21st World Rose Convention will be organized by the World Federation of Rose Societies (WFRS) in Bhopal in 2028. The event will be attended by more than 700 international delegates from across the world. The Bhopal Thematic Garden with its picturesque backdrop of lakes and gardens will provide an ideal platform for technical sessions, cultural presentations and tourism experiences across the state.
This was officially announced at the 20th World Rose Convention held in Fukuyama city of Japan. In this convention India was represented by Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB). The delegation was led by Principal Secretary Tourism and Culture and Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board Sheo Shekhar Shukla. Sushil Prakash was made the new President of the World Federation of Rose Societies at the ceremony. He is the first Indian to be elected as the President of WFRS.
On this occasion, Indian Consul General in Fukuoka city of Japan, Ramkumar was accompanied by Deputy Director of MPTB, Vivek Jude, Mahendra Pratap Singh of Travel India Tours and 14 members of Madhya Pradesh Rose Society.
In the closing ceremony of the convention, the flag was handed over to Sheo Shekhar Shukla by the WFRC, conferring the right of hospitality. More than 500 international delegates from Australia, Japan, Finland, United Kingdom, Europe, South Korea and many other countries attended the ceremony. Governor Mangubhai Patel is the Chief Patron of Madhya Pradesh Rose Society.
Principal Secretary Shukla expressed his happiness and said that it is a matter of pride for us to get the opportunity to host the 21st World Rose Convention in “incomparable and wonderful Madhya Pradesh”. Madhya Pradesh is known in the world for its cultural heritage, legacy and natural beauty. He said that all the rose lovers and visitors from all over the world are heartily welcomed to the state.
The world saw the unique colors of incomparable Madhya Pradesh in the World Rose Convention held in Japan. A presentation was presented by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board in the lectures and workshops. Through this, information was provided to the visitors about the culture, heritage, natural beauty etc. of Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh’s participation not only strengthened its global tourism aspirations, but also presented the state’s biodiversity, cultural richness and vision of sustainable tourism on the world stage through the 21st World Rose Convention to be held in 2028.
The World Federation of Rose Societies organizes the World Rose Convention in different countries of the world every three years. In this convention, rose lovers, experts and visitors from all over the world gather in one city. The 20th World Rose Convention was held in Fukuyama city of Japan from 18 to 24 May 2025. Japan Rose Society got the opportunity to host it. Exhibitions, expert lectures and workshops focused on rose cultivation, pot planting techniques, soil science and horticultural innovation were organized. In the same sequence, it will be organized in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh after three years in 2028.
