While expressing his delight, CM said that on Sunday, the cheetah population in Madhya Pradesh has grown once again, with five cubs born at Kuno — a proud symbol of the success of the Cheetah Project.
Nirva, female cheetah in Kuno National Park gave birth to five cubs on Sunday. With this, the total number of cheetahs has increased to 29 in the national park and 31 in India, with two cheetahs in Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary.
CM Mohan Yadav credited this achievement to the positive and dedicated efforts of the Forest Department team. He said that the number of cheetahs born in Madhya Pradesh has now surpassed the number originally brought from Africa. This, he said, reflects the successful implementation and steady progress of the Cheetah Project.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that since the first cheetahs were released into Kuno by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the cheetah population has continued to grow.
CM emphasized that the state government is committed to developing a supportive eco-system for the conservation and natural growth of all wild animals, which will contribute not only to maintaining environmental balance but also to boosting tourism. Dr. Yadav further stated that the efforts of Madhya Pradesh have demonstrated that the cheetah can indeed be successfully restored in Asia.
