Shivpuri: Madhav Tiger Reserve has welcomed a delightful new addition to its wildlife family. Lakshmi, a female elephant brought to the park last year, has given birth to a healthy male calf, sparking joy among forest officials and conservationists.
With this birth, the number of elephants in the reserve has now risen to three.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Priyanshi Singh said that Lakshmi and a 14-year-old male elephant, Siddhnath, were brought from Satpura in June 2023 to aid in tiger tracking and forest patrol activities. The birth of their calf marks a positive milestone for the park’s growing biodiversity.
The reserve has already seen the birth of two tiger cubs in recent months, and now, the arrival of the elephant calf further strengthens the park’s conservation efforts.
The forest department is celebrating the successful breeding as a sign of a healthy and supportive environment for wildlife.

शिवपुरी: माधव टाइगर रिजर्व में हाथी के बच्चे के जन्म से वनकर्मियों और वन्यजीव प्रेमियों में खुशी की लहर है। पिछले साल पार्क में लाई गई हथिनी लक्ष्मी ने एक स्वस्थ नर बच्चे को जन्म दिया है।
इस जन्म के साथ ही रिजर्व में हाथियों की संख्या अब तीन हो गई है।
संभागीय वनाधिकारी (डीएफओ) प्रियांशी सिंह ने बताया कि लक्ष्मी और 14 वर्षीय नर हाथी सिद्धनाथ को बाघ ट्रैकिंग और वन गश्ती गतिविधियों में सहायता के लिए जून 2023 में सतपुड़ा से लाया गया था। उनके बच्चे का जन्म पार्क की बढ़ती जैव विविधता के लिए एक सकारात्मक मील का पत्थर है।
रिजर्व में हाल के महीनों में पहले ही दो बाघ शावकों का जन्म हो चुका है और अब हाथी के बच्चे के आने से पार्क के संरक्षण प्रयासों को और बल मिला है।
वन विभाग सफल प्रजनन को वन्यजीवों के लिए स्वस्थ और सहायक वातावरण के संकेत के रूप में मना रहा है।
